The Melbourne International Comedy Festival are well into the season this year.
There are still quite a few quality Australian acts with tickets available. A few stand out Australian acts that we recommend are:
- Wil Anderson Wilegal
If you've seen Wil Anderson on ABC's Gruen, then you'll know how great he is with a panel. However see him by himself on stage, not restricted by the ABC as to what he can say provides for an excellent night's entertainment.
- Aaron Chen Sorry Forever
To give you a sprinkle of joy, a neat intro to Aaron Chen's dry comedy genius is to just watch a taste on youtube
- Dane Simpson Didgeridoozy
Although I haven't had a chance to see him live just yet, Dane Simpson provided a hilarious excited performance in the gala that's bound to be followed up with a great show
Many more excellent acts, go check them out!
About the Melbourne International Comedy Festival from their website:
The Melbourne International Comedy Festival is one of the three largest comedy festivals in the world, alongside Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Montreal's Just for Laughs Festival.
An annual event, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival literally takes over Australia's comedy capital, Melbourne, each autumn with an enormous program of stand-up comedy, cabaret, theatre, street performance, film, television, radio and visual arts.
The Festival was launched in 1987 by Barry Humphries and Peter Cook. Thirty-three festivals later, with attendances of up to 770,000, it has grown to be Australia's largest cultural ticketed event. With an average ticket price of just $32, the Festival is not only a hugely popular event but an extremely accessible one. When the Melbourne Town Hall precinct is converted into a giant comedy hub, there is something for every comedy lover, from the very best local and international comedy acts in venues of all shapes and sizes.
